Pineville, KY - After much speculation and rumors to the contrary Monte will be signing with Western Kentucky University today at a press conference held at his school, Bell County High School. We are excited that he will be joining a world-class organization and a strong recruiting class. WKU's class is ranked 78th by Scout and 97th by Rivals.com. Scout.com ranks it as the best in the Sun Belt Conference. Go Hilltoppers!!!!!
Monte Merrick Commits to Sun Belt Conference Division I Western Kentucky University.
Pineville, KY - Monte Merrick has announced today that he has called the coaches at WKU to verbally agree to commit to playing for the Hilltoppers starting next season. "I really like the facilities and the academic history of the school." said Monte in a phone interview Friday evening. "The coaching staff was ecstatic to hear that I was committing and it was followed up with almost 10 phone calls from staff and faculty at the school calling to congratulate me".
Monte has cited the close proximity to home due to his Mother's health situation as a major deciding factor. He also has family in Nashville, TN which is only an hours drive from WKU. Another factor was the warm-weather in the Sun Belt Conference which lends better conditions for kicking.

Bell County Wins Class 4A Ky State Title

THEY DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bell County Bobcats defeated the Bullitt East Chargers for the Class 4A State Title in Louisville Ky. The Bobcats SQUEAKED by with a 15-13 Win at Papa John's Stadium. To catch all the action click here.
On to Louisville! The Bell County Bobcats defeated the Boyle County Rebels 17-15 to earn them a spot in the Kentucky class 4A championship game. The game will be at Papa John's Field in Louisville Ky on Dec. 13. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Go BOBCATS!
Congrats to Monte for making the Kentucky State record for most career PAT at 205 (and counting!). This also puts him in the top 10 in the nation for most PAT in a HS career! - Read more about it here
